2026 Budget: Ato Forson Outlines Three Key Priorities for 2026 Fiscal Year
Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has outlined three strategic priorities that will guide government policy for the 2026 fiscal year and the medium term, aimed at consolidating stability, accelerating growth, and promoting inclusive development.
Presenting the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy themed “The Ghana We Want” to Parliament on Thursday, November 13, 2025, Dr Forson said the budget focuses on maintaining fiscal discipline, driving job creation, and strengthening social and security systems.
According to him, the first priority is the consolidation of macroeconomic stability through sustained fiscal discipline, enhanced revenue mobilisation, and responsible borrowing to ensure debt sustainability.
“We are determined to sustain single-digit inflation and ensure exchange rate stability to preserve the stability we have worked hard to achieve,” he told Parliament.
The second priority, he noted, is to accelerate economic transformation and job creation through large-scale investments in energy, commercial agriculture, agribusiness, and road infrastructure. This, he said, will be supported by flagship initiatives such as the 24-Hour Economy, the Accelerated Export Development Programme, and comprehensive land and natural resource reforms.
Dr Forson added that the third priority focuses on strengthening the security and social sectors to promote inclusive growth.
“Government will retool the security services, modernise education, expand healthcare access, extend electricity to every community, and improve access to clean water while protecting the poor and vulnerable,” he stated.
He emphasised that these policy priorities reflect government’s commitment to building a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable economy under the theme “The Ghana We Want.”
