Ghana stuck at 73rd position in latest corruption rankings
Ghana has maintained its position as 73rd out of 180 countries in the 2022 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), according to a report released by Transparency International (TI).
The West African nation received a score of 43 out of 100, reflecting perceptions of corruption levels, but with no progress made since the 2020 edition of the index.

The TI press release emphasized the need for addressing corruption, which it deems a significant factor in the country’s economic challenges, including the government’s COVID-19 expenditure as highlighted by the Auditor General’s report.
TI Chairperson, Delia Ferreira Rubio, described corruption as a global threat that fuels conflict and violence, calling on governments to take action to root out corruption at all levels.
This year’s top-performing nation in the index was Denmark, with a score of 90, followed by Finland and New Zealand, both scoring 87.
Somalia, Syria, and South Sudan ranked lowest, plagued by conflict and exposed to corruption.
