" Ghana to implement visa-free policy this year \r\n The government of\u00a0 Ghana \u00a0has begun processes towards the implementation of a\u00a0 visa-free \u00a0policy for all Africans this year, President\u00a0 Akufo-Addo \u00a0has said. \r\n\r\nCurrently, Rwanda, Seychelles, The Gambia and Benin are the only African countries that provide visa-free entry for all African citizens.\r\n\r\n Speaking at the opening of the 2024 Africa Prosperity Dialogue on Thursday (25 January), Akufo-Addo said the\u00a0 government \u00a0is committed to ensuring visa-free for all Africans. \r\n\r\n He was speaking on the theme,\u00a0 \u201cDeveloping Prosperity in Africa: Produce, Add, Value and Trade\u201d \r\n\r\n \u201cMany of you had to acquire a visa to come to this event, we made a special arrangement for this conference, we reduced the visa acquisition fee by 50%, and we were thus able to receive your visa on arrival,\u201d the president said. \r\n\r\n \u201cThe government of Ghana is committed to ensuring visa-free for all Africans, for all Africans travelling into our country, and the process has begun to get the policy implemented this year,\u201d Akufo-Addo added. \r\n\r\nCurrently, Rwanda, Seychelles, The Gambia and Benin are the only African countries that provide visa-free entry for all African citizens\r\n\r\nThe three-day event ends on Saturday 27 January 2024 and will have as its overarching focus the need to propose concrete measures which will lead to Africans achieving prosperity for the African continent.\r\n\r\nThe APD, organised in close collaboration with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, based in the capital city of Ghana, Accra, will also seek to\u00a0emphasise the unique opportunity\u00a0that the AfCFTA offers Africa and her people to break free from the pervasive perceptions of poverty, unemployment and underdevelopment with which the continent is so often associated.\r\n Dignitaries \r\nFive African heads of state and another from the Caribbean, as well as several top business and thought leaders from across the African continent and the diaspora are participating in the second edition of the Africa Prosperity Dialogues (APD), which is currently underway at the Presidential Lodge at Peduase, in the Aburi Hills of the Eastern Region"
