" GIPC hosts maiden investor Aftercare Forum\u00a0 \r\n\r\n The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) on 26 th March 2024, hosted its maiden\u00a0 Investor Aftercare Forum, at the Labadi Beach Hotel.\u00a0 \r\n\r\n The event, themed 'enhancing investor experience,' provided a platform for key stakeholders\u00a0 to deliberate on strategies aimed at bolstering support for investor growth and streamlining\u00a0 business operations within the country.\u00a0 \r\n\r\n Investment trends over the years have shown that a significant percentage of foreign direct\u00a0 investment (FDI) in countries is linked to already existing foreign businesses. This\u00a0 phenomenon underscores the need to prioritize reinvestment through the enhancement of\u00a0 the investment climate, particularly for existing businesses.\u00a0 \r\n\r\n The forum therefore served as an avenue to gather feedback and insights from MDA Focal\u00a0 Persons, MMDAs, and investors to identify areas for improvement, in creating an enabling\u00a0 environment post-establishment.\u00a0 \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n Speaking at the event, GIPC\u2019s CEO, Mr. Yofi Grant underscored the criticality of aftercare in\u00a0 every country's investment promotion effort. He asserted that, though there has been\u00a0 significant improvement in the ease of doing business in Ghana, key areas such as the\u00a0 investor-onboarding, and post-establishment support can be further streamlined.\u00a0 \r\n\r\n Mr. Grant therefore urged stakeholders to make use of the Investor Grievance Mechanism,\u00a0 which is earmarked to identify and track in a timely manner, issues besetting investor\u00a0 operations.\u00a0 \r\n\r\n He also assured them of the government\u2019s commitment to create an enabling environment\u00a0 that will ensure that \u201cinvestments in Ghana are retained and expanded\u201d. \r\n\r\n Following Mr. Grant's remarks, Ms. Victoria Cobbah, Head of Aftercare at GIPC, presented\u00a0 further insights into the importance of prioritizing investor aftercare services and outlined\u00a0 strategies to achieve this goal. She highlighted success stories from the Centre\u2019s Aftercare\u00a0 unit, which has been instrumental in assisting investors navigate the regulatory landscape in\u00a0 Ghana and overcome compliance challenges that arise. She explained that the unit was\u00a0 purposed to aid investors minimize operational issues and act as a liaison between them and\u00a0 the government to foster a conducive policy environment.\u00a0 \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n Ms. Cobbah further elaborated on the forthcoming launch of an aftercare manual and\u00a0 information pack, designed to serve as comprehensive toolkits for investors.\u00a0 \r\n\r\n Taking his turn, a Principal Economic Officer from the Ministry of Finance, Victor Kofi Baidoo,\u00a0 oriented participants on the new Exemptions Act 2022, Act 1083, responding to questions\u00a0 and feedback from the investor community.\u00a0 \r\n\r\n He clarified that the new exemptions act was not designed to disenfranchise or undermine\u00a0 any institution. Instead, it serves as a overarching law to standardize and consolidate\u00a0 exemptions dispersed across multiple statutes.\u00a0 \r\n\r\n The interactive session ended with an Aftercare Clinic, where investors had the opportunity\u00a0 to directly engage MDAs\/MMDAs to address pending issues.\u00a0 "
