" Gov\u2019t Set to Launch 24-hour Economy Policy on July 2\u00a0 \r\n\r\nThe government is set to officially launch its flagship 24-hour Economy policy on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, Presidential Advisor on the programme, Mr Goosie Tanoh, has disclosed.\r\n\r\nThe policy, one of the National Democratic Congress\u2019 (NDC) key campaign promises ahead of the 2024 general elections, seeks to reduce unemployment by creating more job opportunities through a three-shift working system across key sectors of the economy.\r\n\r\nSpeaking at a brief ceremony in Parliament on Thursday, June 26, where he presented the official policy document to the Speaker, Mr Tanoh indicated that the move was to formally notify the Legislature of the government\u2019s readiness to roll out the initiative.\r\n\r\n\u201cThis is to inform the representatives of the people that the government is prepared to activate the 24-hour Economy policy on July 2, 2025,\u201d he noted.\r\n\r\nProviding further insight into the framework of the policy, Mr Tanoh stated that it is built on three thematic anchors\u2014Production Transformation, Supply Chain and Market Efficiency, and Human Capital Development\u2014and is underpinned by eight sub-programmes aimed at ensuring holistic implementation.\r\n\r\nAmong the sub-programmes are:\r\n\r\nRoll 24 \u2013 the agriculture-focused component aimed at expanding food production,\r\n\r\nMake 24 \u2013 a manufacturing-led initiative to promote industrialisation,\r\n\r\nConnect 24 \u2013 targeted at improving supply chain integration and logistics,\r\n\r\nAspire 24 \u2013 a mindset reorientation programme aimed at enhancing productivity and work ethic in the public and private sectors.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, Mr Tanoh announced that digital technology training would be integrated into the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) curriculum, to better align Ghana\u2019s workforce with future job demands.\r\n\r\nHe also disclosed the inclusion of a cultural promotion programme dubbed \u2018Show Ghana\u2019, which seeks to showcase Ghana\u2019s arts and cultural heritage to the international market as a tourism and revenue-generating strategy.\r\n\r\nIn his remarks, Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin welcomed the submission of the policy document but urged the Executive to ensure legislative backing for the programme.\r\n\r\n\u201cThere must be a concerted effort to push for the passage of a bill to institutionalise the policy,\u201d Mr Bagbin said. \u201cWe need to insulate it from political transitions to ensure its sustainability over time.\u201d\r\n\r\nThe 24-hour Economy Secretariat is expected to spearhead the implementation of the policy, working in collaboration with relevant ministries, departments, and agencies."
