" \n Stocks in Asia-Pacific traded higher on Monday, as data releases showed China\u2019s manufacturing activity growth slowing in February. \n \n\n \n In Japan, the\u00a0Nikkei 225\u00a0rose 2.18%, as the index attempted to recover from its\u00a0nearly 4% plunge on Friday. The Topix index gained 1.64%. \n \n\n \n Mainland Chinese stocks were higher, as the\u00a0Shanghai composite\u00a0gained 0.52% while the\u00a0Shenzhen component\u00a0jumped 1.605%. \n \n\n \n Hong Kong\u2019s\u00a0Hang Seng index\u00a0advanced 1.2%. Shares of\u00a0CNOOC\u00a0listed in the city, however, dropped more than 3%. That came after the\u00a0New York Stock Exchange announced Friday\u00a0that it will commence delisting proceedings against CNOOC following an update to an executive order signed by former U.S. President Donald Trump in November. \n \n\n \n Stocks in Australia edged higher as the\u00a0S&P\/ASX 200\u00a0gained 1.71%. \n \n\n \n MSCI\u2019s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan rose 1.03% . \n \n\n \n South Korea\u2019s markets are closed on Monday for a holiday. \n \n\n \n China manufacturing PMI \n \n\n \n China\u2019s official manufacturing Purchasing Managers\u2019 Index (PMI) for February came in at 50.6 over the weekend, according to data released by the country\u2019s National Bureau of Statistics. \n \n\n \n That was lower than January\u2019s reading of 51.3 but still above the 50 level that separates expansion from contraction. \n \n\n \n A private survey released Monday also showed China\u2019s manufacturing activity in February growing at a slower pace. \n \n\n \n The Caixin\/Markit manufacturing Purchasing Managers\u2019 Index (PMI) came in at 50.9, a decline from January\u2019s reading of 51.5. \n \n\n \n Levels above 50 in PMI readings represent expansion while those below that signify contraction. PMI readings are sequential and show on-month expansion or contraction. \n \n\n \n Bond yields fall \n \n\n \n The moves in Asia-Pacific markets came as bond yields fell. \n \n\n \n The yield on the benchmark\u00a010-year Treasury note\u00a0declined to as low of 1.383%, last trading at 1.4032%. Prices move inversely to yields. \n \n\n \n In Asia-Pacific, the yield on the\u00a0Australian 10-year bond\u00a0slipped to 1.661%, having seen levels above 1.8% last week.
