" Malawi lifts visa restrictions for 79 countries \r\nMalawi\u00a0has removed visa restrictions for\u00a0travellers from 79 countries to boost tourism and trade in the country.\r\n\r\nThe Homeland Security Minister Ken Zikha\u0142e, in a gazette notice on Wednesday, amended the immigration regulations \u2013 effectively lifting visa barriers for citizens from the UK, China, Russia, Germany, Australia, Canada, Belgium, Ghana, The Gambia, Sierra Leone, France and others.\r\n\r\nNationals from the Southern African Development Community (Sadc) and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (Comesa) are also exempt from visa requirements.\r\n\r\nThis excludes countries that impose visa requirements on Malawian citizens.\r\n\r\nThe changes also include exemptions for certain groups such as diplomats and government officials, and countries that have mutual exchange agreements for multiple-entry visas with Malawi.\r\n\r\nThe validity of multiple entry visas in Malawi is now up to 12 months, according to the new visa regulations.\r\n\r\n\u201cThis monumental decision isn\u2019t just about visas; it\u2019s about\u00a0unleashing\u00a0the untapped potential of our beloved Malawi and inviting the world to experience its wonders first-hand,\u201d Tourism Minister Vera Kamtukule told local media.\r\n\r\nThe British embassy in Malawi urged its nationals to take advantage of the relaxed visa restrictions to visit a range of popular tourist attractions in the southern African country.\r\n\r\nMalawi joins Kenya and Rwanda in opening up their countries for African travellers."
