" New Country Representative of WHO Tanzania presents\u00a0 letter of credentials to Foreign Ministry\u00a0 \r\n\r\n The newly designated Country Representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Tanzania, Dr. Charles Sagoe-Moses, has presented his letter of credentials to the\u00a0 Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Hon. Dr. Stergomena Lawrence Tax (Mb.), on the start of his duty tour in Tanzania. Dr Sagoe- Moses\u2019 appointment took effect from 6 th June 2023.\u00a0 \r\n\r\n The Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Dr. Lawrence Tax\u00a0 welcomed the Resident Representative and assured him of sufficient cooperation from\u00a0 the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania during the implementation of his\u00a0 duties in this country.\u00a0 \r\n\r\n She also acknowledged the excellent technical support received from WHO on various\u00a0 Public Health Security initiatives such as the National Plans for Health Security which is\u00a0 still operational and the Organization\u2019s immense contribution towards ending the recent Marburg virus disease outbreak.\u00a0 \r\n\r\n Dr. Tax noted that Tanzania will continue to work with the WHO to ensure that it\u00a0 improves and strengthens health systems and the health sector in general as well as\u00a0 building the capacity of health sector experts to enable them to deal with and control various diseases emerging in society.\u00a0 \r\n\r\n \"Tanzania and the World Health Organization have been cooperating in strengthening\u00a0 and improving the health sector in the country and WHO's contribution is great and has\u00a0 helped the Government to improve the health sector and the implementation of various\u00a0 interventions to fight against diseases\u201d, said Dr. Tax.\u00a0 \r\n\r\n Dr Sagoe-Moses thanked the Honorable Minister for her warm welcome and commended Tanzania for making major reforms in the Health Sector as well as\u00a0 providing cooperation to international organizations especially the World Health\u00a0 Organization (WHO).\u00a0 \r\n\r\n He added that the efforts of the Tanzanian Government in dealing with various\u00a0 diseases, especially those of outbreaks, are good and satisfactory, a good example is\u00a0 how Tanzania fought Marburg fever in the Kagera region.\u00a0 \r\n\r\n \"WHO will continue to cooperate with the Government of Tanzania in preventing and\u00a0 treating various diseases in ensuring we achieve health priorities for Tanzania\u201d, a dded\u00a0 Dr. Sagoe-Moses. \r\n\r\n Before his appointment, he was the WHO Country Representative in Namibia. Prior to\u00a0 that Dr Sagoe-Moses was the WHO Country Representative in The Gambia and acting\u00a0 WHO Country Representative in Eritrea.\u00a0\u00a0 \r\n\r\n He previously held other senior leadership positions in the WHO Regional Office for\u00a0 Africa (AFRO).
