" \n Transport fares to increase by 40% from January 17 \n \n\n \n The Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana (C-DAG) has indicated that effective Monday, January 17, 2022, transport fares will be increased by\u00a040% across the country.\u00a0 \n \n\n \n The Association added that the upward adjustment has been necessitated by the unbearable hardships facing drivers. \n \n\n \n Adding that the increment is influenced by a number of factors including the price of fuel at the various pump stations, the increase in the price of vehicles as well as the price increment in spare parts and lubricants. \n \n\n \n This was made known in a press release dated 10th January, 2022 by the Association. \n \n\n \n Read: Government allocates GHS 1.1bn to agric sector to create more jobs \u2013 Pres Akufo-Addo \n \n\n \n \u201cIt must be noted that we commiserate with Ghanaians on the current economic hardship but in order to keep us in business, we are left with no other option but to adjust transport fares a little upward which is a 40% increment,\u201d part of the statement reads. \n \n\n \n \u201cIt must be noted that we also experience the economic conditions of the country. It has become extremely difficult for us to manage our homes as prices of basic commodities, including sachet water have also seen an upward increment,\u201d they added. \n \n\n \n The Association urged Ghanaians to embrace the new \u201ctransport fares when it takes effect from Monday, January 17, 2022.\u201d \n \n\n \n The Association also encouraged Ghanaians to avoid fighting drivers and their conductors when the new fares are implemented. \n "
