" WHO and Government of Ireland collaborate to strengthen health system resilience in Tanzania\u00a0 \r\n\r\n The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Government \u00a0 of Ireland have signed an agreement to pilot a new project that will improve \u00a0 ongoing efforts to strengthen health system resilience to effectively respond to \u00a0emergencies in Tanzania.\u00a0\u00a0 \r\n\r\n The new project titled - Strengthening Health Systems Resilience for Enhanced \u00a0 Health Emergency Response at the Sub-national Level United Republic of \u00a0 Tanzania supported by the Government of Ireland is worth 200 000 Euros and \u00a0 will be implemented in seven regions namely, Tanga, Kigoma, Dodoma, Dar es \u00a0Salaam, Zanzibar & two other high-risk regions.\u00a0 \r\n\r\n The project aims to bolster the capacity of healthcare systems, especially at the \u00a0 subnational level, to effectively respond to health emergencies. The project \u00a0 responds to global challenges like emerging diseases, climate change impacts, \u00a0and natural disasters that threaten healthcare systems.\u00a0\u00a0 \r\n\r\n Speaking at the agreement signing ceremony, WHO Representative to \u00a0 Tanzania, Dr Charles Sagoe-Moses underscored the need to reinforce the \u00a0 health system's resilience at the subnational level has become increasingly \u00a0evident in the face of evolving health threats and emergencies.\u00a0 \r\n\r\n He expressed gratitude to the Government of Ireland for joining hands with \u00a0 WHO to support Tanzania\u2019s efforts towards staying prepared and effectively \u00a0responding to health emergencies.\u00a0\u00a0 \r\n\r\n \u201cThe Government of Tanzania has in the last two decades made giant strides \u00a0 to bolster the resilience of the health systems, but health emergencies are \u00a0 increasingly threatening this feat.,\u201d noted Dr Charles Sagoe-Moses. \u201cHealth is \u00a0 a huge and an incredibly important sector. We are indeed happy about this \u00a0 partnership which will impact and make a difference in the lives of the people \u00a0of Tanzania.\u00a0 \r\n\r\n On her part, the Irish Ambassador to Tanzania, H.E Marry O\u2019Neill, conveyed \u00a0 pleasure of the Irish Government to partner with WHO at the national and \u00a0 subnational level in addressing the key public health priority of the Government\u00a0 of Tanzania. \u201cThis initiative will strengthen healthcare systems and ensure the \u00a0 health emergencies are addressed timely and effectively,\u201d she stated. \u201cFor us, \u00a0 health security requires us to be ready at all times for the known and unknown \u00a0and partnering with WHO to build the country\u2019s resilience is a great privilege\u201d\u00a0 \r\n\r\n Tanzania has faced pockets of outbreaks, including cholera and the Marburg \u00a0 virus, necessitating the need for improved resilience, particularly at the sub national level. WHO collaborates closely with the Tanzanian government to \u00a0 strengthen the country's health system and build its capacity for emergency \u00a0preparedness and response.\u00a0\u00a0 \r\n\r\n The initiative will be managed by WHO and implemented over 12 months in \u00a0close collaboration with the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders.\u00a0 "
