Constitution Review Committee Announces Stakeholder Consultations and Public Engagements

Ghana’s Constitution Review Committee (CRC) has announced plans to engage stakeholders and the wider public in a series of consultations as part of its ongoing constitutional review process.

The engagements will take two forms: targeted consultations with key institutions and open-ended zonal meetings to ensure broader public participation.

Targeted Stakeholder Consultations

The CRC is inviting written contributions from experts, public institutions, professional bodies, trade unions, civil society organisations, political parties, and individual members of the public. These consultations will focus on specific constitutional themes, with stakeholders expected to submit their views by the following deadlines:

  • Lands and Natural Resources – March 12
  • Decentralisation, Local Government & Chieftaincy – March 12
  • Public Services and Enterprises – March 15
  • Executive Advisory Councils (Council of State, IGP, Police Service Council, Armed Forces Council, National Security Council) – March 20
  • Independent Constitutional Bodies/Offices – March 20
  • Directive Principles of State Policy, Social and Economic Rights, NDPC – March 20
  • Political Parties – March 20
  • Executive and Legislature – March 20
  • The Judiciary – March 20
  • Other areas (Finance, Central Bank, Public Debt Management, Discretionary Power, Dual Citizenship, Amendment Procedure) – March 20

Nationwide Zonal Public Engagements

In addition to these targeted consultations, the Committee will hold public engagement sessions in various regions to gather broader input:

  • Zone 1 (Accra) – April 7-8
  • Zone 2 (Tamale/Bolgatanga) – April 10-11
  • Zone 3 (Wa) – April 14-15
  • Zone 4 (Kumasi) – April 22-23
  • Zone 5 (Takoradi/Cape Coast) – April 25-26
  • Zone 6 (Koforidua) – April 29-30
  • Zone 7 (Ho) – May 5-6

The CRC is urging individuals, organisations, and relevant institutions to participate in the process to ensure that the review reflects the views of a broad cross-section of Ghanaians.

Submissions can be made through the following channels:
