Atlantic Lithium Engages Government for Fiscal Concessions Amid Falling Lithium Prices

The Board of Atlantic Lithium Limited has confirmed ongoing discussions with the Government of Ghana concerning fiscal concessions needed to support the successful development of the Ewoyaa Lithium Project, Ghana’s first lithium-producing mine.

The appeal for revised fiscal terms follows a significant decline in global lithium prices since the company secured the Ewoyaa Mining Lease in October 2023. In response to the market downturn, Atlantic Lithium has engaged key stakeholders, including government officials, to renegotiate terms that better reflect the current pricing environment, with talks said to be ongoing.

Despite the prevailing market challenges, Atlantic Lithium has reiterated its commitment to advancing the Ewoyaa project towards production. The company continues to collaborate closely with the Ghanaian Government and local communities to ensure that the project delivers long-term socio-economic benefits, including critical revenue generation, employment opportunities, and skills development for Ghanaians.

Commenting on the developments, Neil Herbert, Executive Chairman of Atlantic Lithium, stated, “We are dedicated to working in a spirit of partnership with the Government of Ghana and our host communities to ensure Ewoyaa becomes a flagship project for the country and the region. While current lithium prices present headwinds, we believe that through collaboration and prudent fiscal measures, we can advance Ewoyaa to production and deliver lasting value for all stakeholders.”

The Ewoyaa Lithium Project is a key component of Ghana’s strategic plan to establish itself as a player in the global EV battery metals supply chain, with expectations that successful production could significantly bolster the country’s mining sector and the broader economy.

Lithium Spodumene, which is the expected production from the Ewoyaa Project as of March 2025 was priced at $815 per tonne.
