FIFA Imposes Transfer Ban on Hearts of Oak Over $150,000 Hiddink Debt
FIFA has placed a significant transfer ban on Accra Hearts of Oak, preventing the club from registering new players both locally and internationally due to an outstanding debt owed to former Dutch coach Rene Hiddink. The ruling, announced on August 21, 2025, will remain in effect until the club settles this financial obligation.
According to FIFA’s statement, “Accra Hearts of Oak is hereby banned from registering any new players, either nationally or internationally, until the due amounts are paid to Mr. Rene Hiddink. The ban shall be lifted immediately upon settlement of the debt. Should the club fail to comply, the ban will cover a maximum of three entire registration periods.”
This ruling adds significant pressure on Hearts of Oak’s management to resolve the issue swiftly. The club risks missing out on crucial opportunities to strengthen its squad over multiple transfer windows if the debt is not cleared.
