$1.7bn Needed to Complete Agenda 111 Hospitals, President Mahama Says
President John Mahama has disclosed that his administration will require $1.7 billion to complete all unfinished hospitals under the Agenda 111 project.
Speaking at a meeting with the Christian Council, he noted that while a few of the hospitals have been completed, they lack the necessary infrastructure to function effectively.
“Now we need $1.7 billion to complete the Agenda 111 projects,” he stated.
According to the President, nearly 90 of the hospitals initiated under the previous government remain incomplete. He criticized the state of some of the facilities, stating, “The previous government started Agenda 111 but has not been able to finish the hospitals. There are so many of them unfinished. Even the ones they commissioned don’t have a single bed.”
President Mahama called on religious organizations to collaborate in addressing the challenge, suggesting that mission hospitals in affected areas could receive support rather than duplicating efforts.
“If the missions have a hospital in an area, we are not coming to compete with the missions by building a hospital. We will use the resources to improve the mission hospitals so that they can provide the service,” he explained.
He further proposed that religious institutions interested in healthcare delivery could take over some of the stalled hospitals and manage them.
The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing the Agenda 111 project to enhance healthcare delivery across the country.
They can also privatize some of them.
