Methodist Church Ghana to Launch Connexional Entrepreneurship Programme – Presiding Bishop Asamoah-Gyadu Discloses

The Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, Most Reverend Professor Johnson Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, has announced plans by the Church to launch a Connexional Entrepreneurship Programme to broaden its support for youth-led businesses across the country.

He disclosed this at the maiden graduation ceremony of the Wesleyan Entrepreneurship School (WES) held on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Christ the King Chapel, Anaji Estate in the Sekondi Diocese. The first cohort of trainees from the School received GHS 40,000 in seed funding to kickstart their ventures.

“So, very soon, we will invite some of you to join us, as we launch the Connexional Entrepreneurship Programme,” the Presiding Bishop said, emphasising the Church’s commitment to creating platforms that nurture sustainable businesses and social impact.

Delivering his charge to the graduates, Most Rev. Prof. Asamoah-Gyadu urged them to prioritise godliness, education, and fruitfulness in their entrepreneurial journeys. He noted that true entrepreneurship goes beyond the pursuit of wealth, underscoring that “we work because we have to make the world better.”

He highlighted five areas where entrepreneurs must remain fruitful: their personal moral life, being filled with the Spirit of God, productivity in their work, nourishing others, and contributing to the Lord’s work.

“Seek to work hard, seek to be godly, because that’s what God wants us to do,” he admonished the graduates.

The Connexional Entrepreneurship Programme, when launched, is expected to build on the vision of the Wesleyan Entrepreneurship School, which has been set up to raise a new generation of innovative entrepreneurs capable of driving economic growth and social impact.
