2022 CAF Awards: Evelyn Badu bags Young Player and Inter-Club Player of the Year
Black Princesses captain, Evelyn Badu bagged two awards at the 2022 CAF Awards as she was named the Young Player of the Year and Interclub Player of the Year in the women’s category.
She beat off competition from Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Andile Dlamini and South Africa defender Bambanani Mbanie in the Inter-Club Player of the Year category before winning the Young Player of the Year ahead of former teammate Doris Boaduwaa and Morocco’s Yasmine Zouhir.
The year under review saw Badu winning five trophies with Hasaacas Ladies and was the top scorer in the maiden edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League and the best player of the tournament as well.
She was integral when the Sekondi based club chalked successes in the Ghana Women’s Premier League, the Women’s FA Cup the Women’s Super Cup, the First Lady’s Cup and the WAFU Zone B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers.
Unfortunately, they placed runner ups to eventual winners Mamelodi Sundowns.
Following a successful tournament and stunning year, the 19-year-old sealed a move to Norwegian side, Avaldsnes IL.
Badu is currently with the Black Princesses side as they prepare for next month’s FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.
