2023 U.S. – GHANA Business Expo set for August 10-11

The American Chamber of Commerce in Ghana (AmCham Ghana), the U.S. Embassy Ghana, U.S. Commercial Service, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and the Embassy of Ghana in Washington, D.C. will co-host the 2023 U.S. – Ghana Business Expo on August 10-11, 2023 at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra, from 9:00 AM.

To be held under the theme; Leveraging U.S. – Ghana Trade Relation for Growth and Prosperity, the Expo will provide an overview of the current trade relations between the United States and Ghana, highlighting success stories, identifying potential areas of growth, and outlining strategies for fostering further collaboration with integrated business-to-business meetings between Ghanaian and U.S companies.

As part of the Expo, the U.S. Department of Commerce will lead a Global Diversity Export Initiative (GDEI) trade delegation that includes 19  companies and six trade associations, including the National Black Chamber of Commerce,  the National Business League, U.S. Black Chambers Inc., Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce, the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development and the Organization for Women in International Trade.  The GDEI delegation represents diverse communities and industries from across the United States with a focus on the information and communications technology, consumer goods, and automotive sectors.

Ghana and the United States have historically maintained a substantial commercial relationship. One of the biggest trading partners of the United States in sub-Saharan Africa is Ghana. The United States Census Bureau estimates that in 2022, Ghana and the United States exchanged commodities worth around $3.7 billion (exports plus imports).

Speaking on the upcoming event, The U.S. Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia E. Palmer, noted that “last year, our bilateral trade in goods totaled $3.7 billion, and our bilateral trade in services is growing as well.  Our trade relationship and the more than 100 American companies active in the Ghanaian market support jobs and economic prosperity on both sides of the Atlantic.  We look forward to the many new business relationships and connections the U.S.-Ghana Business Expo will generate.”

The 2023 U.S. Ghana Business Expo will feature remarks from Ghana’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Hon. Kobina T. Hammond, and Marisa Lago, Under Secretary for International Trade at the U.S Department of Commerce, as well as panels discussions on “Sustainable Business Climate in Ghana: Fostering Growth and Prosperity” and “Strengthening Diasporan Relations: Catalyst to Promote U.S.-Ghana Trade,” and keynote addresses from Senior Government of Ghana and U.S. officials.
