2025 Africa Prosperity Dialogues Kickstarts Today
The 2025 edition of the Africa Prosperity Dialogues (APD), organised by the Africa Prosperity Network (APN), begins today, January 30, at the Accra International Conference Centre in Accra, Ghana. The three-day summit has drawn over 3,000 delegates from more than 46 countries, cementing its role as a premier platform for advancing Africa’s economic integration agenda.
This year’s forum, held in collaboration with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, will focus on the theme “Delivering the African Single Market Through Infrastructure: Invest, Connect, Integrate.” Discussions will centre on mobilising public and private sector investments to accelerate infrastructure development, seen as critical to realising a seamless continental market.
High-Level Participation and Key Discussions
The summit will host seven African heads of state, alongside prominent business leaders and policymakers. Confirmed speakers include Mesfin Tasew, Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines; Ambassador Bridget Motsepe, an advocate for economic empowerment; Dr Abdulhamid Al Khalifa, President of the OPEC Fund; Dr Sidi Ould Tah, President of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA); Dr Amany Asfour, President of the Africa Business Council; and Moh Damush, CEO of Telecel Group. Also playing key roles are Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, Chairperson of the APN Advisory Council, and H.E. Wamkele Mene, Secretary-General of the AfCFTA Secretariat.
The opening day will feature the launch of the ProJet Afrique Exhibition and official side events, followed by an inaugural ceremony attended by international dignitaries. Discussions will highlight infrastructure financing, transport, and logistics to enhance the free movement of goods and services across the continent. The day concludes with a welcome reception at the Kempinski Hotel.
On Day Two, the focus shifts to sustainable energy, digital infrastructure, industrial capacity, STEM education, healthcare systems, and urban development. An open forum will allow delegates to contribute to policy recommendations shaping Africa’s economic transformation.
The final day will feature a High-Level Heads of State and Business Leaders’ Dialogue, culminating in a Presidential Roundtable on private-sector participation in Africa’s single market. Six heads of state have confirmed attendance, alongside key financial and trade leaders. Discussions will include a fireside chat on BADEA’s US$50 billion Investment Fund and an engagement with a leading African industrialist.
Gala Awards to Recognise Africa’s Economic Champions
The summit will close with the Africa Prosperity Champions Awards and Presidential Gala Dinner, honouring individuals and organisations driving economic progress and continental integration. The black-tie event will celebrate achievements aligned with Agenda 2063, the African Union’s blueprint for economic transformation.
The APD, an initiative of the Africa Prosperity Network, has established itself as a pivotal platform for advancing intra-African trade and investment. The dialogues serve as a catalyst for accelerating the implementation of AfCFTA commitments and shaping Africa’s long-term economic trajectory.
