The Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, announced on Thursday, November 13, 2025, during the presentation of the 2026 Budget Statement, that the Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL) will introduce an airport development fee to support key infrastructure projects across the country.
The initiative aims to finance the rehabilitation of Sunyani Airport, the construction of a new airport at Bolgatanga, and the development of a multi-purpose car park.
Additionally, the funds will support the construction of a connecting concourse between Terminals 2 and 3 at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA), enhancing passenger flow and operational efficiency.
Dr. Forson emphasized that the projects are part of the government’s broader agenda to modernize aviation infrastructure, improve connectivity, and support economic growth through enhanced airport facilities.
