GIPC CEO Reaffirms Ghana’s Secure and Non-Discriminatory Investment Climate to Foreign Investors
Simon Madjie, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), has reaffirmed to foreign investors that Ghana offers a safe, transparent and non-discriminatory environment for investment.
He explained that the country’s legal and regulatory regime provides safeguards against expropriation and unfair treatment, while permitting the unrestricted repatriation of capital, dividends and profits.
Mr Madjie made the remarks in Accra during an engagement with a business delegation led by Japan’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ms Kunimitsu Ayano.
He stressed that foreign investors receive the same treatment as their local counterparts, aside from local content obligations intended to boost domestic participation and value creation.
According to him, Ghana’s entrenched democratic credentials, predictable policy framework and robust independent institutions continue to strengthen investor confidence.
The GIPC Chief Executive further pointed to Ghana’s position as host of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, which provides investors with access to a continental market of roughly 1.4 billion people, alongside the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) market of over 400 million consumers.
He added that Ghana is a signatory to numerous bilateral and multilateral agreements, including international frameworks on dispute settlement and arbitration, allowing investors to enforce arbitral decisions within the country.
“Ghana’s Constitution clearly supports and safeguards foreign direct investment,” Mr Madjie stated.
