Samartex and Nsoatreman FC Exit CAF Competitions

Ghana Premier League teams Samartex and Nsoatreman FC have been eliminated from the ongoing qualifiers for the group stages of the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup, respectively.

Samartex’s CAF Champions League journey ended on Saturday with a 2-0 defeat against Raja Casablanca in Morocco. This result confirmed a 4-2 aggregate victory for the Moroccan side, allowing them to advance while Samartex exited in their first African campaign.

Marouane Zila scored just before halftime, and despite a solid effort from Samartex, led by coach Nurudeen Amadu, they were unable to equalize. Raja sealed their victory with an 88th-minute goal from Naoufel Zerhouni, dashing Samartex’s hopes of further progress. Nevertheless, the club remains positive, reflecting on the valuable experience gained.

Now, Samartex will turn their attention back to the Ghana Premier League, preparing for crucial matches against Bibiani Gold Stars and Medeama SC. Their goal is to defend their domestic title and earn another chance at African competition next season.

In contrast, Nsoatreman FC faced a 1-0 loss to CS Constantine on Saturday. A first-half goal from the Algerians at Stade Mohamed-Hamlaoui ensured a 3-0 aggregate win over the Ghanaians. Entering the match with a two-goal deficit, it was a challenging task for last year’s FA Cup champions to advance, making the second leg in Constantine largely a formality.

Despite their exit, Nsoatreman FC managed to maintain a respectable scoreline in their inaugural African campaign.
