FIFA U-20 WWC: Ghana’s Black Princesses drawn against Japan, Netherlands and USA in Group D

The Ghana U-20 Women’s football team, the Black Princesses, have been drawn against the USA, Japan and the Netherlands in Group D of the FIFA U-20 World Cup to be staged in Costa Rica later this year.

The Black Princesses were placed in Pot 3 prior to the draw, and they were placed in a difficult group that includes two previous winners of the competition in Japan and USA.

The United States have won the trophy three times, making them the joint most successful country alongside Germany, while Japan are the current holders, having won the last edition in 2018.

Ghana will be making their sixth appearance, and will be hoping to put up a show as they have failed to advance past the group stage in the previous five editions.

Nigeria, the other African team to qualify for the tournament, were also placed in a difficult group with France, Canada, and the Republic of Korea.

With the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ fast approaching, some of the world’s best young players and future superstars of the women’s game will take to the field in Costa Rica from 10 to 28 August 2022.
