H.E. Maher Kheir calls for robust economic partnerships to drive growth

H.E. Maher Kheir, the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of Lebanon to Ghana, has stressed the pivotal role of economic partnerships in fostering stability and driving growth.

Speaking on the theme “How to strengthen economic partnerships,” at GIPC’s Economic Counsellors Dialogue on Thursday, July 6, 2023, H.E. Kheir highlighted the power of collaborative efforts to unite nations and facilitate shared economic development.

Addressing fellow economic counsellors at the dialogue, H.E. Kheir underscored their responsibility to advocate for and support countries in forging strategic partnerships to enhance their growth prospects. He emphasized that such alliances between nations not only foster stronger trade flows but also fuel economic expansion.

Trade agreements play a vital role in reducing trade tariffs, expanding market access, and stimulating economic activity. As economic counsellors, H.E. Kheir urged his colleagues to champion the cause of trade agreements, recognizing their potential to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive and prosper.

In addition to advocating for trade agreements, H.E. Kheir emphasized the importance of advising countries to diversify their economies and explore new sectors. By embracing a broader range of industries, nations can fortify their resilience and unlock new avenues for growth.

H.E. Kheir further stressed the necessity of incorporating sustainability into economic growth strategies. He emphasized that integrating sustainable practices is paramount to ensuring long-term economic development.

H.E. Kheir’s address serves as a reminder of the instrumental role economic counsellors play in advocating for trade agreements, diversification, and sustainability, ultimately paving the way for shared economic growth.

As nations navigate an increasingly interconnected and interdependent world, fostering strong economic partnerships emerges as a key driver for sustained progress and prosperity.
