Black Stars will need individual brilliance to qualify ahead of Nigeria – Agyemang Badu

Former Black Stars midfielder, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu says he is of the view that individual brilliance will lead Ghana to outclass Nigeria in their upcoming World Cup play off.

Ahead of the much-anticipated game, the former Asante Kotoko and Udinese Calcio midfield enforcer says  the current crop of players have not been together long enough to develop the necessary chemistry required to beat a team of Nigeria’s stature.

“Seriously speaking the only option we have now to beat Nigeria is through individual brilliance,” he told Citi Sports.

“We don’t have a team right now and I have been saying this for the past two years.

“We have quality players but we don’t have a team.

“It is a new team so they won’t have cohesion and the required teamwork.

“The national team is not like the club side and so you don’t always get a chance to train with players.

“The team was assembled in three days making it very difficult for the coach to get the cohesion he needs.

“So prayers, great support from the fans and individual brilliance is what we need to rely on,” he added.

The Black Stars will host Nigeria in the first leg at the Baba Yara Stadium on Friday, March 25 with the return leg scheduled to be played at the Abiola National Stadium on Tuesday, March 29.

The winner of the tie takes one of Africa’s five slots at the World Cup to be staged in Qatar later this year.
