President Mahama Nominates First Batch of 15 Envoys for Ambassadorial Appointments

President John Dramani Mahama has nominated fifteen individuals for ambassadorial, high commissioner, and consul-general postings, marking the first batch of diplomatic appointments under his new administration.

The nominations, which followed consultations with the Council of State, were formally communicated in a letter dated June 10, 2025, from the Office of the President to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.

The list features a blend of seasoned public officials, academics, and distinguished professionals selected to represent Ghana’s interests across key global missions.

High-Profile Appointments

Among the nominees is Mr. Kojo Bonsu, former Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), who has been designated to the People’s Republic of China. Veteran actress Kulsoume Sinare Baffoe has been nominated as Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain.

Also included is Nii Amasah Namoale, a former Member of Parliament for La Dadekotopon, who is heading to the Federal Republic of Brazil, while former KNUST Vice Chancellor and biological scientist Prof. Kwasi Obiri-Danso has been nominated to India.

Hammed Rashid Tunde Ali has been assigned to the United Arab Emirates, while Grace El Mahmoud Marabe will represent Ghana in Dubai as Consul-General.

  13. Labik Joseph Yaani – Republic of Equatorial Guinea

  14. Nii Amasah Namoale – Federal Republic of Brazil

  15. Dr. Felix Kumah Godwin Anebo – Republic of Senegal

These appointments are part of President Mahama’s broader diplomatic agenda to deepen bilateral relations, enhance trade and investment ties, and expand Ghana’s influence on the global stage.
