UK Prime Minister, Starmer appoints cabinet members (Full List)

Prime Minister-elect of the United Kingdom,  Keir Starmer has begun his first appointment by naming members of his cabinet.

Recall that Starmer of the Labour Party defeated ex Conservative leader, Rishi Sunak with over 400 votes to emerge British Prime Minister in a landslide victory.

Angela Rayner emerged as the Deputy Prime Minister and Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing, and Communities, becoming the first Labour MP to step into Downing Street that afternoon.

Following her, Rachel Reeves was confirmed as the UK’s inaugural female Chancellor. David Lammy and Yvette Cooper, both seasoned veterans from Tony Blair’s era, were appointed as Foreign Secretary and Home Secretary, respectively.

Pat McFadden, renowned for his strategic role in Starmer’s election campaign, took on the responsibilities of Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, having previously served as political secretary under Blair.

Wes Streeting, narrowly retaining his Ilford North seat, assumed the mantle of Health Secretary, while former Labour leader Ed Miliband was designated Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero.
