United Airlines Expands Accra-Washington D.C. Service to Daily Flights
United Airlines has announced an expansion of its Accra-Washington D.C. route, increasing service from three weekly flights to up to seven weekly flights. This development marks a 62% year-over-year increase in seating capacity, further strengthening United’s position as a leading U.S. airline in Ghana.
The airline is now the only carrier offering nonstop service between Accra and Washington D.C., while also providing more one-stop connections from Accra to destinations across the United States than any other U.S. airline.
The increased flights come as United expands its footprint in Africa, with plans to launch a new route from Dakar to Washington D.C. in 2025 – pending government approval – and its recent introduction of seasonal flights from Marrakesh to New York/Newark.
“Africa continues to be an integral part of United’s global network, and we are delighted to announce an increase in flights from Accra to Washington DC,” said Oluwatomi Bola-Sadipe, United’s Country Sales Manager for Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa. “We are proud to offer our customers in Ghana even greater travel choice when booking their next U.S. getaway, along with convenient one-stop connections to over 70 destinations across the Americas.”
United’s Accra-Washington D.C. flights are operated with Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, featuring 28 PolarisSM business class seats, 21 Premium PlusSM premium economy seats, 36 Economy PlusSM seats, and 158 standard economy seats.
The Dreamliner offers enhanced passenger comfort, including larger windows, modern LED lighting, a lower cabin altitude, and smoother ride quality to help travelers adjust to the transatlantic journey.
United Airlines returned to Ghana in 2021 and continues to bolster its services, connecting Accra to a vast network of U.S. cities, including Chicago, Atlanta, Houston, and Dallas.
