GFA Approves Five Venues for Ghana Premier League Resumption; Conditional Approvals for Others
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has greenlit five venues for the upcoming resumption of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) following a thorough re-inspection by its Club Licensing Department. The approved venues include the Tarkwa TNA Stadium, Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, Dun’s Park Bibiani, Nsenkyire Sports Arena, and Kpando Sports Stadium, all deemed fit to host matches while ensuring player safety and an even playing field.
In addition to the approved venues, five others have been granted conditional approval, contingent upon addressing specific concerns. These venues—Nii Adjei Kraku Park, Tuba Astro Turf, Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park, and Nana Agyemang Badu Park—must undertake necessary repairs before they receive full approval.
However, not all venues are in the clear. The Baba Yara Stadium, home to Asante Kotoko, and the Legon Stadium, which serves as a temporary venue for Hearts of Oak and Legon Cities, have been flagged for safety zone issues that need to be resolved before hosting official matches. The GFA has called on the affected clubs to promptly provide solutions to these safety concerns.
Additionally, the Wenchi Sports Stadium, Ampanian Arena, and Berekum Golden City Park are facing both technical and security challenges that require repairs and renovations. As it stands, these venues remain unapproved until further notice.
The GFA has scheduled the next round of inspections for March 9, as clubs and fans eagerly await the return of competitive action in the GPL.
