Ghana Premier League Match Week 3 Preview

The Ghana Premier League is set to captivate fans this weekend with thrilling matchups across the country. Hearts of Oak seek redemption, while Asante Kotoko look to maintain their strong start. Here’s a look at the upcoming fixtures.

Vision FC vs. Legon Cities

Vision FC, fresh off a 2-0 victory against Accra Lions, return to the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex to face city rivals Legon Cities on Saturday, September 21, 2024.

After a solid away win, Vision FC remains unbeaten in their first two matches, sitting second on the league table with four points. Legon Cities, however, have struggled, losing both of their opening games. As they visit Vision FC, they will be eager to secure their first win of the season. This will be the first league encounter between the two sides, with Vision FC looking to capitalize on their home advantage.

Bibiani Gold Stars vs. Basake Holy Stars

GoldStars FC will host Basake Holy Stars at Duns Park in Bibiani on Saturday at 15:00 GMT.

Having had a longer break due to a postponed match, GoldStars aim for their second consecutive win. Basake Holy Stars, who have earned four points from their first two games, will not be easy opponents, as they come off an impressive draw with Dreams FC and a victory over Hearts of Oak.

Karela United vs. Accra Lions

Karela United will clash with Accra Lions at the Naa Sheriga Sports Complex on Sunday. Both teams are in dire need of points after disappointing starts to the season.

Karela United has yet to score a point after two losses, while Accra Lions have also started poorly, suffering back-to-back defeats. Historically, their encounters have been closely contested, with Karela United winning one, drawing one, and losing one in their previous home matches against Accra Lions.

Aduana FC vs. Nations FC

Aduana FC will face Nations FC at Nana Agyeman Badu I Park on Sunday.

Despite two draws in their opening games, Aduana FC will be looking to leverage their strong home performance last season to secure a win against Nations FC, who also come off two consecutive draws. This matchup will mark the first league meeting between the two teams since Nations FC’s promotion.

Asante Kotoko vs. Young Apostles

Asante Kotoko SC will play their first home match of the season at Len Clay Stadium against Young Apostles on Sunday.

After a week off due to a postponed match, Kotoko seeks to capitalize on their home advantage. Young Apostles, having lost their first match and drawn their second, will aim for their first win of the season against the seasoned Kotoko side.

Hearts of Oak vs. Bechem United

Hearts of Oak will host Bechem United at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Sunday at 18:00 GMT.

The Phobians have struggled in their opening matches, sitting at the bottom of the table without a win. They face a Bechem United team also searching for their first victory of the season after two draws. Historically, Hearts of Oak have had a mixed record against Bechem United at home, adding intrigue to this matchup.

This weekend promises to deliver high-stakes football as teams fight for crucial points in the early stages of the season.
