BetPawa GPL: Hearts earn comeback win over Tamale City; Accra Lions see off Legon Cities

Hearts of Oak secured a 3-2 comeback win over Tamale City on Saturday afternoon in a five goal thriller at the Cape Coast Stadium.

In a week 11 fixture of the 2022/23 league season , the Phobians took the lead in the 35th minute after being awarded a penalty kick.

Midfielder and captain Salifu Ibrahim stepped up to take the kick and converted it to give Hearts of Oak the lead. However, before halftime, Tamale City FC scored twice with goals from Isaac Mensah and Sampson Eduku to turn the game on it’s head going into the first half break.

Back from recess, Hearts improved upon their first half performance and it paid off as Benjamin Yorke drew parity in the 46th minute.

With the game heading for a draw, Caleb Amankwah put a dagger into the hearts of Tamale City as he scored to seal a 3-2 win for Hearts in the 87th minute.

The victory sends Hearts of Oak to second place as the other fixtures play out.

At the other side of the matchweek, Accra Lions were impressive as they inflicted a 3-1 defeat on Legon Cities.

Both teams were up to task in the first half but none was able to break the deadlock as they went into the break even.

Back from recess, Accra Lions FC had much of the ball and converted their chances, scoring three goals in the process.

Evans Ampofo scored the opener for Lions in the 78th minute. Six minutes later, Solomon Oppong doubled the lead for the home side before Abdul Majeed Maswud put the icing on the cake to seal the 3-1 win.

The consolation goal for Legon Cities FC came as late as in the added time with Samuel Armah getting on the socresheet.
