GRA Refutes Claims of Involvement in Fake Vehicle Auction

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has refuted claims of its involvement in a purported vehicle auction, describing the allegations as “false” and warning the public against falling prey to fraudulent activities.

In a statement issued on December 11, 2024, the GRA clarified that all vehicle and goods auctions are conducted strictly under established protocols by its Customs Division.

The authority emphasized that a fake media release, dated December 3, 2024, is falsely attributed to the Commissioner-General and cautioned against its circulation.

“The fake media release bears the signature of the former Commissioner-General, Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, but has the name of the current Commissioner-General, Madam Julie Essiam,” the GRA noted, dismissing the notice as fabricated.

The authority called on the public to rely exclusively on official communications for accurate information and advised against making payments to unauthorized persons.

The GRA reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and cautioned individuals to remain vigilant against fraudulent schemes misusing its name.
