Ghana’s Zinabu Issah Wins Gold at WPA 2025 Marrakech Grand Prix with Record Throw

Ghanaian para-athlete Zinabu Issah showcased her extraordinary talent at the 2025 World Para Athletics (WPA) Grand Prix in Marrakech, Morocco, clinching gold in the F57 women’s discus throw with a remarkable throw of 29.25 meters. This achievement not only secured her the top spot on the podium but also set a new personal and national record.

Issah’s record-breaking throw surpassed her previous best of 26.66 meters, which she achieved at the same Grand Prix in 2024, where she also earned gold. Her journey to this victory included a solid performance earlier this year, where she threw 24.39 meters during the qualification event for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, reflecting her continuous improvement.

Returning to Marrakech in 2025, Issah delivered a stunning performance, reaffirming her status as a leading contender in the F57 discus throw category. Her latest achievement is a significant boost for Ghana’s representation in international para-sport and strengthens her case for qualification for major upcoming events, including the 2025 WPA World Championships and the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Zinabu Issah’s outstanding performance is not just a personal triumph but also a testament to the growth of para-athletics in Ghana, inspiring future generations of athletes.
