Black Queens Celebrate WAFCON Bronze Medal with President Mahama at Jubilee House

The Black Queens were received with honor at Jubilee House following their commendable bronze-medal finish at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) held in Morocco. The visit showcased the team’s remarkable achievement and the nation’s pride in their performance.

During the courtesy call, President John Mahama and Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang praised the Black Queens for their resilience and determination throughout the tournament. President Mahama highlighted their success as a testament to the talent and spirit of Ghanaian athletes, stating, “Your achievement is a source of national pride.”

In a show of support for Ghanaian athletes, President Mahama announced that he had directed the Minister for the Interior to prioritize the recruitment of national athletes into the country’s security services. This initiative aims to provide additional career opportunities for athletes after their sports careers.

The atmosphere during the meeting was filled with celebration and encouragement, with the President reaffirming his administration’s commitment to enhancing sports development in Ghana. He expressed confidence that the Black Queens’ success would inspire future generations of female athletes.

The visit to Jubilee House not only recognized the team’s hard work but also solidified the partnership between the government and sports organizations in promoting the welfare of athletes.
