Ghana Football Association Launches Empowering “Girls for Goals” Program in Keta
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has successfully launched the Girls for Goals program in Keta, Volta Region.
Spearheaded by Deputy General Secretary (Admin) Ama Brobey-Williams, with support from the Women’s Football Development office of the Technical Directorate, the initiative aims to empower young girls through sports and education.
Key figures such as Executive Council Member Dr. Gifty Oware-Mensah, Winifred Mawudeku from the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, and Jennifer Amakwaa Sarpong, head of the Women’s Football Development Desk, were instrumental in organizing the event.
The Girls for Goals program is a 9-month initiative designed to promote gender equality among girls aged 10-18, focusing on sports, healthy lifestyles, and education. It aims to inspire participants to reach their full potential while also promoting grassroots football and increasing overall participation in the sport through various campaigns.
The launch was attended by dignitaries, including the District Chief Executive of Keta, the Director of Education for the Keta Municipal Assembly, local chiefs, and representatives from the Ghana Education Service.
This program aligns with the GFA’s vision of advancing women’s football and has garnered significant support from FIFA, La Guilde, GIZ, and the GFA.
