Gov’t Secures 10% Data Bundle Increases Across All Telcos, Effective July 1
The Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Samuel Nartey George, has announced a major revision in data bundle offerings by all mobile network operators, set to take effect from July 1, 2025.
Addressing a press conference in Accra on Monday, Mr George disclosed that his Ministry has successfully concluded negotiations with the Chief Executive Officers of Ghana’s major telecom firms to increase data allocations across board.
“I am pleased to announce that my engagement with the CEOs has resulted in the following specific measures,” Mr George stated.
Revised Data Offers by Network:
AirtelTigo Ghana (AT Ghana):
• 10% increase on all data bundles
• GH₵400 bundle upgraded from 195GB to 236GB
Telecel Ghana:
• 10% increase across all data bundles
• GH₵400 bundle revised from 90GB to 250GB
MTN Ghana:
• 15% increase across all data bundles
• Restoration of GH₵399 bundle offering 214GB (previously changed to GH₵350 for 92.88GB)
According to the Minister, the move aligns with government’s broader digital inclusion agenda aimed at enhancing affordability and accessibility of internet services for Ghanaians.
While acknowledging the financial implications of the increases on the telecom providers, Mr George commended the operators for prioritising consumer value.
“I am aware these increases will come at considerable cost to the network operators. However, I am glad that our engagements and consultations are bearing fruit for the Ghanaian people,” he remarked.
Mr George also lauded the CEOs for their cooperation, noting that the outcome reflects a deepening collaboration between government and industry players in shaping a more inclusive communications sector.
The latest data bundle adjustments are expected to boost internet access, support economic activity and improve user satisfaction across the country.
