Sudan Assistant Coach Ignatius Osei-Fosu Expresses Interest in Black Stars Role
Sudan assistant coach, Ignatius Osei-Fosu, has declared himself ready for the Black Stars coaching position amid uncertainty surrounding current head coach Otto Addo’s future.
After failing to qualify Ghana for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations—the first time in over two decades the Black Stars missed the tournament—Addo’s status is in question.
Osei-Fosu, along with his boss Kwasi Appiah, played a role in the four-time African champions’ failure to qualify, as Sudan managed to secure four points against Ghana in Group F. They drew goalless in Ghana and won 2-0 in the reverse fixture.
“I think tactically I can be able to do the job because what is a tactical approach? I’m a License A coach, and I can do tactical approach,” Osei-Fosu told 3 Sports. He emphasized that coaching involves more than just tactics, stating that interpersonal relationships are crucial.
Having worked as Sudan’s assistant coach since September 2023, Osei-Fosu acknowledged the importance of learning from Appiah. “If he says that, Ignatius, I think you have been with me for one year now. The Black Stars are calling you. I think you are ready to go. Then it’s like a master blessing is servant to go and work.”
