National Security Operatives Seize 12 Containers of Stashed Dollars, Gold Bars, Others

National security operatives have made a significant breakthrough, seizing a large cache of US dollars and Ghana Cedis, including counterfeit notes, hidden in twelve 20ft shipping containers.

The containers were traced to a warehouse in Sapeiman, located in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, following a special operation prompted by a tip-off.

The concealed currency, predominantly US dollars, was discovered inside wooden boxes filled with cement. Further inspection revealed additional cash hidden in boxes barricaded with plywood and sealed with charcoal.

A statement from the National Security confirmed that two of the containers remain unaccounted for, but state security trackers are actively pursuing them. A manhunt has also been launched for four suspects, including a ringleader known only as Alhaji.

Authorities also uncovered other illicit items at the warehouse, including suspected gold bars, counterfeit Ghana cedi notes in GHS 50 and GHS 100 denominations, as well as fake Ghana Army uniforms and boots.

Investigations are ongoing to dismantle the entire operation and bring the culprits to justice.
