Wimbledon 2025: All You Need to Know as the Grass Court Season Begins

The excitement is building as Wimbledon prepares to welcome tennis fans from around the world. With the nets up, the grass mowed, and strawberries being served with cream, the iconic tournament is set to kick off on Monday, June 30, at the All England Club.

The Championships will run for 14 days, concluding on Sunday, July 1.

Defending Champions

Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz will be looking to replicate his success from last year, where he triumphed over Novak Djokovic in a thrilling final, securing his second Wimbledon title and fourth Grand Slam overall. On the women’s side, Barbora Krejčíková will aim to defend her title after defeating Jasmine Paolini in a closely contested match last year.

Players to Watch

Male Contenders

The men’s draw promises to deliver exhilarating matches, especially with players like Jack Draper and Novak Djokovic vying for the title. Alcaraz recently showcased his prowess in a record-breaking five-hour and 29-minute final at Roland Garros against Jannik Sinner, setting the stage for an intense Wimbledon.

Female Contenders

In the women’s singles, world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka enters as a strong favorite after her victories at the Australian and US Open. Known for her explosive game, she remains a formidable threat on grass. However, she will face stiff competition from world No. 2 Coco Gauff, who recently clinched her second Grand Slam title at Roland Garros, and 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina, who is renowned for her powerful serve and calm demeanor.

Prize Money

This year’s tournament boasts a prize pool of £53.5 million, a significant increase from previous years. Singles champions will take home £3 million each, reflecting an 11.1% rise from 2024. Even first-round exits will see players walk away with £66,000, up 10% from last year.
