Black Stars to Assemble Squad in Morocco for World Cup Qualifier Against C.A.R with Key Player Returns

The Black Stars, is set to assemble in Casablanca, Morocco, for their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against the Central African Republic and Comoros. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that the Black Stars will open camp this weekend in Casablanca ahead of their penultimate Group I qualifier against the Central African Republic on October 8, 2025.

The technical staff, along with home-based players Benjamin Asare and Prince Owusu, will depart Accra on Saturday to join the rest of the squad. The team plans to hold three training sessions in Morocco, ensuring they are well-prepared for the match at Stade d’Honneur de Meknes. This gathering is pivotal as Ghana aims to solidify its position at the top of Group I, currently holding 19 points.

In a significant boost for the squad, the Black Stars will welcome back key players Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and Alidu Seidu. Issahaku, who has been sidelined for months due to an ACL injury sustained during the AFCON qualifiers against Angola, has made a successful return to action with Leicester City, scoring twice in the Championship this season. Similarly, Seidu returns after recovering from his own ACL injury incurred while playing for Rennes. He has already made three appearances for his club since regaining fitness, including a standout performance that earned him a Man of the Match award.

The return of these players adds depth and experience to Coach Otto Addo’s squad as they target a strong finish in their World Cup qualifying campaign. With the Central African Republic match critical for their aspirations, the Black Stars understand the importance of securing a win to move closer to their goal of qualifying for the World Cup for the fifth time.

Following the clash with the Central African Republic, the Black Stars will return home to face Comoros on October 12 at the Accra Sports Stadium. As they approach the conclusion of their World Cup qualifying campaign, the team is determined to finish strong and affirm their place on the world stage. With new additions and a focused training regimen, the Black Stars are gearing up for what promises to be a crucial period in their quest for World Cup glory.
