“I Am Leaving Behind a Ghana That Is Working”, Says President Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Friday, January 3, delivered his final State of the Nation Address asserting that he is leaving behind “a Ghana that is working.”

His SONA delivered in Parliament, reflected a tone of optimism as he assessed his two terms in office.

Highlighting achievements across sectors including education, healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure, President Akufo-Addo framed his presidency as a period of resilience and transformation.

“These achievements belong to every Ghanaian who has contributed to the collective effort of nation-building,” he remarked.

The President was particularly buoyant about Ghana’s economic recovery, dismissing criticism from detractors whom he described as “propagandists” for claiming the country was financially distressed.

Instead, he emphasized the rebound of key economic indicators and the stability of institutions.

“I leave behind a Ghana that has navigated significant global challenges with remarkable tenacity, whose economy is steadily rebounding, and whose institutions are operating effectively,” he told lawmakers.

The President also lauded strides in governance and democratic principles, describing the nation as “safe, secure, united, and firmly rooted in the rule of law.”

Concluding his address, President Akufo-Addo expressed confidence in Ghana’s trajectory, urging future leaders to build on his administration’s foundation.

“Our nation will go from strength to strength, and freedom and justice have taken hold forever in our body politic,” he said.

The address marked a reflective and determined end to a presidency defined by both its bold reforms and its share of challenges, setting the stage for the next chapter in Ghana’s political and economic journey.
