Mfantsipim School Retains NSMQ Title; Clinches Fourth National Trophy

Mfantsipim School has once again asserted its dominance in academic excellence, successfully defending its title to win the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ). The victory marks back-to-back triumphs for the “Botwe Boys” and their fourth national championship, achieved before an ecstatic crowd at the University of Cape Coast’s NEC Auditorium.

The 2025 grand finale featured three of Ghana’s most accomplished institutions: Mfantsipim School, St. Augustine’s College (Augusco), and Opoku Ware School (OWASS).

In a contest defined by intellect, composure, and teamwork, Mfantsipim demonstrated remarkable consistency. The defending champions started strong, leading the first round with 20 points, while Augusco and OWASS trailed closely with 17 points each.

Augusco staged a comeback in the speed round, finishing ahead with 27 points to Mfantsipim’s 24, as OWASS maintained 17 points. However, Mfantsipim regained control in the Problem of the Day, scoring 30 points—one point higher than Augusco—while OWASS followed with 19 points.

By the fourth round, the defending champions had extended their lead to 46 points, ahead of Augusco’s 42 and OWASS’s 29. In a tense final round, Mfantsipim maintained composure and precision, ultimately sealing victory with 56 points.

St. Augustine’s College finished second with 42 points, while Opoku Ware School placed third with 29 points.
