Inflation rate recorded for March 2020, remained unchanged at 10.3 percentage points.
Headline inflation rate for February 2020 as reported by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), stood at 10.3 percent.
Recorded month-on-month inflation between February and March according to the GSS, was 0.9 percent.
Compared to last year, inflation rate for housing, water, electricity and gas increased by 5.6 percentage points ending March at 29 percent from the 23.4 percent recorded for February 2020.
Inflation for food and non-alcoholic beverages registered a rate of 10.8 percent with non-food inflation rate recording 10.0 percent last month.
Within the food inflation group, tea (16.7 percent) recorded the highest rate of inflation. Vegetables, fish and other seafood recorded negative month-on-month inflation rates (-0.1 and -0.1 percent respectively).
Inflation for imported goods for the period was 6.8 percent up from 6.7 percent in February, whereas inflation for locally produced goods was also 11.7 percent on average.
Regional Inflation
The Greater Accra region recorded the highest inflation rate of 17 percent, whilst the Volta region recorded the least inflation rate of 5.3 percent.
Food inflation in the Greater Accra Region was estimated at 11.5 percent, whilst non-food inflation was 21 percent.
The Ashanti region registered the second highest inflation rate of 9.3 percent, followed by the Eastern region with an inflation rate of 7.7 percent.
