Most drinking spots became empty in the garden city after the bragging rights and the top spot of the premier league was handed to Asante Kotoko’s most fierce contender, Accra Hearts of Oak.

Reports from Kumasi indicate that popular areas such as Bantama, Adum, Oforikrom, Danyame, Kwadaso, Santase, Abrepo-Junction and Suame spare parts among other places were quiet as party joints in these areas were empty as fans of the porcupine warriors where no way to be found in these party joints.

In the region, most presenters of radio stations threw their support behind the club, hailing the team’s coach as “Kofi Yesu” and banking their hopes on Brazilian player Fabio Gama for an emphatic win. But that was not to be so as the Continental Club Masters – Accra Hearts of Oak – stopped the porcupine warriors in their quest for the premier league title by a single goal.

Hearts of Oak edged over Asante Kotoko in a crucial Ghana Premier League game to extend their lead at the top by three points more.

Backed by a fervent and almost exclusively Phobians crowd at the Accra Sports stadium, Hearts took the lead through an in-form Daniel Afriyie Barnieh.

The forward benefited from a loosely hit strike by Frederick Ansah Botchway as he redirects the initial effort past Kwame Baah.

The goal, which came halfway into the second half, demonstrated Hearts’ dominance.

The Phobians looked like they wanted it more after the half-time break and piled the pressure on the Porcupine Warriors.

Augustine Okrah had Kotoko’s best chance and could have levelled the score if he added more power to his effort.

Okrah got on the end of good cross but his shot was rather straight at Richard Attah who grabbed the ball on a second attempt.

At the end of the 90 minutes play time, Accra Hearts of Oak emerged winners in the Super Clash on Sunday, beating Asante Kotoko with a single goal.
