Paul Pogba: Manchester United midfielder could rejoin Juventus next summer, says agent Mino Raiola

Paul Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola has said the Manchester United midfielder could return to Juventus when his contract expires next summer, according to widespread reports in Italy.

Corriere dello Sport have quoted the super agent speaking to Italian TV channel Rai Sport on Friday, amid discussions with United over the 28-year-old’s future that have been ongoing since the summer.

Raiola is reported to have said: “Pogba’s contract expires next year. We will talk to Manchester (United) and see.

“For sure Turin has remained in his heart and he cares a lot about these things. The possibility of returning to Juventus is there but it also depends on Juve.”

Earlier this week, Sky Sports News reported that Pogba has been impressed by Manchester United’s recruitment over the summer, and is now more open to signing a contract extension, following interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

But Raiola says Juventus remain a possibility, after he made 124 appearances for them during a four-year stint, having moved there from United following just three first-team appearances in the 2011-12 season.

Pogba helped the Bianconeri to four consecutive Serie A titles, as well as two Coppa Italia and two Supercoppa Italiana successes and a Champions League final appearance, before returneing to Old Trafford in an £89.3million deal in 2016.

Real Madrid and also among a number of clubs that are interested in signing Pogba on a pre-contract agreement in January.

It is understood talks will continue between Pogba’s representatives and United over his future, and while no decision has been made, he is coming around to the idea of extending his stay in Manchester after seeing the arrivals of Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho.

He continues to have a fantastic relationship with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the rest of the coaching staff and players.

Ole: Trophies can persuade Pogba to stay

Solskjaer believes the return of Ronaldo can help Manchester United become winners again and persuade Pogba to commit his long-term future to the club.

When asked about Pogba’s current situation, Solskjaer said: “It’s up to us to get results and to prove to ourselves that we can win trophies.

“I think everyone that signs for Manchester United wants to win trophies and be part of a winning Manchester United.

“It’s the most magical feeling in the world to be part of a winning Manchester United team.”

Solskjaer believes the club’s summer recruitment has given him a squad capable of competing on all fronts this season.

“We’ve had enough disappointments, that’s for sure, and some big moments as well,” he said. “But this team has grown and matured over the last few seasons. That was always the plan (when I came in), we said in three years’ time we’d have a squad with experience and quality that could challenge.

“With players like David (De Gea), Harry Maguire, who’s been here a couple of years, you get that spine in the team with experience and quality, with Raphael and Cristiano coming in to add to that.

“It’s not the last bit, you can never say it’s the last bit, but it’s that something that you have to buy unless you’ve already won it yourself.”
