GSE-CI drops as MTN posts share price loss on the stock market

GSE-CI drops as MTN posts share price loss on the stock market

Benchmark index the Ghana Stock Exchange Composite Index (GSE-CI) slipped 29.12  points on Tuesday from gains made on Monday to close trading at 2,938.89 points translating into a 51.37% YTD return for investors.

The drop in the index is linked to the 2.31 percent share price loss recorded by MTNGh on the stock market on Monday.

The GSE Financial Stock Index (GSE-FSI) however improved on the day as it gained 1.38 points to close at 2,082.63 points also translating into a YTD return of 16.82%. 

Three equities – TOTAL, CAL and EGL – made gains in their respective share prices with MTNGh being the sole decliner on the local bourse on Tuesday.

Market capitalization of the bourse thus decreased by GH¢304.81 million to close trading at GH¢65.05 billion representing a growth of 19.63% in 2021.
