Legendary Boxer, D.K. Poison annexed Ghana’s first World Championship title as he beat Reuben ‘El Puas’ Olivares of Mexican descent to win the WBC featherweight title.
After his successful bout, rumours have it that, the boxer was instructed by Ghana’s government in 1975 to give $45,000 of the monies earned to support the State in purchasing food stuffs for the citizenry.
According to the boxer, the State promised to refund him the money but the then Government as well as subsequent Governments have failed to refund the money, particularly because he had no documents to prove he had indeed handed-out such an amount to the State.
