GSE: Share price value of MTN, Ecobank and Total fall on the stock market

A fall in the share price value of Scancom Plc (MTNGh), Ecobank Ghana Plc and Total Ghana Plc was witnessed during trading activities on the Accra bourse on Monday, November 22, 2021.

Ecobank, MTNGh and Total each lost GH¢0.01 to close at GH¢7.80, GH¢1.23 and GH¢5.49 respectively.

For MTNGh, its share price -since last week Thursday – continues to decline as a result of the negative sentiment that met the 1.75% E-levy on  MoMo transactions proposed in the 2022 Budget and Economic Policy of the government.

The decline in the share price of the three equities resulted in the benchmark GSE Composite Index (GSE-CI) shedding 12.46 points to close trading at 2,907.10 translating into a YTD return of 49.73%.

The GSE Financial Stock Index (GSE FSI) also lost 0.56 points to close trading at 2,078.83 translating into a YTD  return of 16.58%.

Market capitalization of the GSE following the fall in the GSE-CI and GSE-FSI, reduced by GH¢130.33 million to close at  GH¢64.71 billion representing a growth of 19.02% in 2021.

In all, a total of 4,104,202 shares valued at GH¢5,614,603.65 was traded in eleven  (11) equities; a decline in trade turnover as compared to Friday’s volume of  7,326,676 valued at GH¢9,998,722.97.

MTNGh recorded the most trades, accounting for 86.3% and 95.2% of the total value and total volume traded respectively.
