Ghana Armed Forces investigates “bomb scare” incident at Kotoka Airport
The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has indicated that it has begun investigations into an alleged bomb scare at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) in Accra on Tuesday.
A statement issued by the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), indicated that around 9pm on 28 December, a bag believed to contain explosives was left unattended to at the arrival hall of Terminal 3 at the Airport creating a tensed atmosphere.
GACL added that, the Base Ammunition Depot Unit of the Ghana Armed Forces was then brought in to carry out an investigation into the content of the bag which will be made pubic after conclusive investigations by GAF.
It however, noted that, some white powdered substance was found in the bag when personnel of the Base Ammunition Depot Unit of GAF opened it.

“Management of Ghana Airport Company Limited can confirm that around 9pm on Tuesday, 28 December, an unattended bag was sighted at the arrival hall of Terminal 3 at the international airport.”.
“The Base Ammunition Depot Unit of the Ghana Armed Forces was immediately brought in to conduct preliminary assessment of the bag and its contents. The bag was subsequently taken away for further investigations, the outcome of which will be made public,” the statement read.
“Management of GACL wishes to apologise for the disruption in the arrival facilitation process during the period and assures the pubic of its commitment to ensure their safety and security at our airports,” it added.
