GSE market cap surge by GHS 287m as TBL, EGL and MTN record 5.9% average gain in price

GSE market cap surge by GHS 287m as TBL, EGL and MTN record 5.9% average gain in price

The local bourse ended last week with a total market capitalisation of GHS 64.5 billion.

This is after the market value of the local bourse surged by GHS 287 million following share price increment in TrustBank Gambia Limited (TBL), Enterprise Group Limited (EGL) and Scancom Plc (MTNGh).

Together, the three equities recorded an average increase of 5.9% in their share price.

Stocks of TBL posted a 8.57% increment in its share price ending last Friday’s trading session with a closing price of GHS 0.38 from an opening price of GHS 0.35.

For EGL and MTNGh, the two stocks recorded 7.53% and 1.85% increase in stock prices resulting in closing prices of GHS 3 and GHS 1.11 from their opening prices of GHS 2.79 and GHS 1.09 respectively.

On the back of the price increments, the benchmark GSE Composite Index (GSE-CI) at the close of the week improved by 27.49 points to close at 2,789.52 translating into a YTD return of 0.01%.

The GSE Financial Stock Index (GSE-FSI) also  inched up by 7.27 points to close the week at 2,154.03 translating  into a YTD return of 0.10%.

Meanwhile, a total of 2.4 million shares valued at GH¢3.4 million traded during  the week compared to 1.5 million shares valued at GH¢2.3 million which traded the previous week. 

Scancom PLC. (MTNGH) recorded the most trades for a third week running as it accounted for 84.0% of the total value traded. 

Cal Bank and GCB were the second and third most traded equities on the local bourse.
