GPL Matchweek Wrap: Asante Kotoko continue fine form, Hearts lose

Asante Kotoko continued their winning run in the Ghana Premier League as they beat Medeama SC 1-0 at the Baba Yara Sports stadium on Sunday.

George Mfegue Omgba scored in the 79th minute to ensure Kotoko secured all the three points to extend their unbeaten run to six games. Mfegue who was on hand for a brace missed from the spot after Richmond Lamptey was fouled in the box.

Vincent Atinga and Kwasi Donsu came very close to hitting the back of the net for the visitors but Kotoko goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim pulled two brilliant saves to deny them.

Asante Kotoko finally broke the deadlock 11 minutes from time through George Mfegue who beat Medeama SC goalkeeper Boris Mandjui.

Mfegue drove into the box and then unleashed a powerful low strike into the far right corner to send the crowed into a wild jubilation.

Boris later saved Mfegue’s penalty to cap off an outstanding individual display that merited the Man of the Match award.
